1. What’s your name, where are you from, and what’s your role at Africa Safari Trips?

My name is Anna Kula Wumone Shilunga, and I’m from a small town called Oshakati in the northern part of Namibia. I work at Africa Safari Trips as a tour consultant and with my local knowledge, I also help the team create online content.

2. What’s your favourite destination in Namibia and why?

My favourite destination in Namibia is Etosha National Park because of its incredible wildlife and unique landscapes. I love how visitors can experience close-up sightings of animals such as elephants, lions, giraffes, and rhinos around the waterholes, for example in Okaukuejo. The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful sunsets, and unforgettable safari experiences make it one of the most special places in Namibia for me.

3. Which safari experience would you recommend to someone visiting for the first time?

If you travel to Namibia for the first time, I would highly recommend going to Etosha National Park and Sandwich Harbour. Etosha offers incredible wildlife viewing. Here, you can marvel at lions, elephants, giraffes, and the rare black rhinos in their natural habitat. In Sandwich Harbour the giant dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean, the perfect spot for thrilling adventures. The combination of wildlife, landscapes, and exciting 4×4 dune drives guarantees a truly unforgettable Namibia experience.

4. What’s the most unforgettable wildlife moment you’ve had?

One of the most unforgettable wildlife moments I’ve had was along the Skeleton Coast. I saw large colonies of Cape Fur Seals relaxing at the shoreline with the dramatic Atlantic Ocean waves crashing nearby. The mix of the coastline, foggy atmosphere, and the animals turned this experience into a forever memory. It was one of those moments that captured perfectly the raw beauty and wilderness of Namibia.

5. Is there a destination in Namibia you haven’t been to yet but would love to explore one day?

I still would like to explore the Caprivi Strip, now called Zambezi, in the northeast of Namibia, with Botswana’s Chobe National Park and the Victoria Falls nearby. Here, five countries almost meet: Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Angola. It’s lush and green due to rivers, floodplains, swamps, and islands and home to countless animals. At the rivers you can find large hippo and crocodile populations, enormous elephants herds, special antelope species and large carnivores like lions, leopards, cheetahs and the rare African wild dog.

Bonus: What’s one tip you always share with guests before they travel to Namibia?

One tip I always share with guests before they travel to Namibia is to come prepared for long drives and changing weather conditions. Namibia is a large and beautiful country, so it takes time to get from one spot to the next. Therefore, comfortable clothing, sunscreen, a hat, and a good camera are essential.
