There is just one thing to keep in mind, which is a minimum age of 6 years that some places honour. Luckily, there is a way around that.

: Absolutely yes. A family safari in Botswana might sound adventurous (because it is), but with the right planning, it’s also surprisingly easy and incredibly rewarding. When designing your itinerary, we carefully adapt the pace to your family: shorter transfers, child-friendly lodges and plenty of time in the pool. Our travel consultants will select accommodations with family tents or interleading rooms, and babysitting options where available. Whether your kids dream of spotting elephants, learn to read animal tracks or roast marshmallows under a star-filled sky, Botswana tends to work its magic on all ages.
: Some lodges indeed have a minimum age of 6 years, mostly because safari game drives are usually joined with other guests. By setting a minimum age, they hope to avoid nuisance to other guests joining the game drive. Luckily, families with children can always book a private game drive in these places (at a supplement).
: Definitely! And seeing a child’s face light up at their very first elephant sighting is honestly hard to beat. That said, Botswana safaris work a little differently. Because many safari areas are unfenced and game drives take place in open vehicles, each lodge applies its own child policy, and children under 6 are often not permitted on scheduled shared game drives. The good news? Many lodges offer flexible alternatives, and private game drives can be arranged for families (at a supplement), allowing younger explorers to join too. : Families travelling with young children are welcome in Botswana, but you’ll need to bring your own suitable baby or child car seat, as these are not available. Simply let us know in advance, and we’ll make sure your transfer arrangements are prepared for it.
: Botswana is wonderfully welcoming towards families, but not every safari lodge is designed with young children in mind. Many camps are located in remote wilderness areas where wildlife freely roams through the camp – exciting, yes, but also a reason why some lodges only accept children above a certain age. Facilities can vary greatly, too. Some lodges offer family tents, kids’ activities, junior ranger programmes or babysitting services, while others focus more on the classic safari experience for adults.
