High on an escarpment on the quieter western side, Muchenje Safari Lodge lies within the Chobe Forest Reserve with no fences between the lodge and the park boundary – so animals can just pass through! The 10 thatched cottages and one family cottage all have a private deck, offering sweeping views across the river and seasonal floodplains. They are fitted with an ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning and a ceiling fan. The family cottage adds a mezzanine sleeping area for two children and has two bathrooms. Meals are enjoyed in the main lodge’s dining area overlooking the river and a waterhole, while private dining, eating out in the lapa by the pool, and a bush braai in the boma are all on offer. And don’t worry, the chefs cater for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets too!
