Day 1

Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi

As you step out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a member of our Africa Safari Trips team or a hotel driver greets you with a big smile: 'Karibu Kenya â€“ welcome to Kenya!' He brings you straight to your hotel to relax and, along the way, you get your first impressions of vibrant Nairobi. The next day, your guide takes you on an exclusive, private safari that allows you to travel at your own pace. Let the adventure begin!

Day 3

Samburu or Buffalo Springs National Reserve

For the next two days, your safari adventure continues in northern Kenya. Depending on your chosen accommodation, you’ll either explore Samburu National Reserve (Elephant Bedroom Camp or Samburu Sopa Lodge) or Buffalo Springs National Reserve (Ashnil Surana Buffalo Springs). Both reserves lie within the same ecosystem and offer abundant wildlife and sweeping savannah views.

Day 4

Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Reserve is a great place the first half of your safari adventure, with a dry semidesert and savannah landscape that allows for far sights and lots of animals. It is home to the Northern Five also called the Samburu Special Five - five rare animals that can only be spotted together in Samburu. The central Ewaso Nyiro River makes for a great spot to see all these animals, while just outside the park you can meet the fascinating Samburu tribe, and observe their special way of living.

Day 5

Drive from Samburu National Reserve to Solio Ranch Conservancy

The drive from Samburu to Solio Ranch Conservancy takes just over 3 hours and passes through shifting scenery, from Samburu’s dry, rugged land into the greener highlands of Central Kenya. On arrival, you have lunch at your lodge if staying outside the conservancy, giving you time to settle in before an afternoon game drive. If you prefer a longer game drive, you can request a packed lunch in advance through your travel consultant.

Day 6

Drive from Solio Conservancy to Lake Nakuru National Park

A 3-hour descent through Rift Valley farmlands leads to the alkaline shores of Lake Nakuru, where the water shimmers pink on good days and rhinos graze along the lakeshore. It's a transfer that does nothing to temper expectations and everything to exceed them.

Day 7

En route to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve

Lovers of road trips get their money’s worth today, as you drive to what might be the most famous safari destination in the world. If you decide to sleep at the Zebra Plains Safari Camp today (our silver accommodation), you will end the day on a high note with a walking safari. If you opt for our gold or platinum accommodation, however, you skip the walking safari but sleep right in the heart of the Masai Mara.

Day 8

Masai Mara National Reserve

The Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most famous places for safari worldwide. Located 270 kilometres west of Nairobi, this is one of the biggest game reserves in Africa. It extends over 1,500 km² and has more than 400 species of birds and no less than 95 species of mammals. Big cats are frequently spotted here, and this is THE place to watch the world-famous Great Migration between August and October, with its vast herds of wildebeests and zebras crossing the Mara River.

Drive from Masai Mara National Reserve to Lake Naivasha

This 5-hour drive northeast from the Mara climbs out of the savanna into the cooler highlands, passing through Narok town and flower farms before the glittering surface of Lake Naivasha comes into view. The transition from open plains to a papyrus-fringed freshwater lake is a quietly beautiful one, with hippos and fish eagles welcoming your arrival.

Day 10

Discover the iconic Amboseli National Park

For no less than two days, you explore magical Amboseli National Park. Fantastic views on Mount Kilimanjaro await you, with animals grazing in front of it. And if you stay at the Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp, you can admire amazing savannah views at sunset - sundowner in hand and all!

Day 11

Amboseli National Park

Discover the mesmerizing Amboseli National Park, a true wildlife haven at the foot of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. The national park on the border with Tanzania offers sweeping savannahs, impressive lava rocks and shimmering swamps, creating an ideal habitat for large herds of elephants, graceful lions, a staggering variety of bird species and many more animals. Shoot them all (with your camera, of course!) with the mighty Kili in the background â€“ an amazing sight!

Drive from Amboseli National Park to Tsavo West National Park

Departing Amboseli with Kilimanjaro fading in the rearview mirror, this 3.5-hour drive northwest cuts through open Maasai plains and dry acacia scrubland before the dramatic volcanic landscapes of Tsavo West begin to take shape on the horizon. It's a seamless transition between two of Kenya's most iconic parks, the road itself feeling like a natural bridge between elephant country and the rugged, lava-sculpted wilderness that lies ahead.

Day 13

Drive from Tsavo West National Park to Tsavo East National Park

The drive from National Park to Tsavo East National Park unfolds across rugged volcanic hills and lava flows before easing into the wide, open savanna. It’s a 4‑hour journey that steadily transitions from dramatic highlands to the arid plains, with wildlife and acacia trees marking the way. Together, the two parks form Kenya’s largest wilderness, and the road between them feels like a safari in itself.

Day 14

Ride to the South Coast and relax at the beach!

It's now time to rest by the ocean! After your last game drive, you hop on the train to Mombasa to reach the outstretched and white beaches of Diani, the perfect location for beach holidays. Longing for a tropical island retreat? Then step it up to platinum and stay on Chale Island – just off the coast, it offers an amazing design hotel that pampers to all your needs.

Day 15 - 17

Diani Beach

Stretching along Kenya's Indian Ocean coast like a ribbon of brilliant white, Diani Beach is a gorgeous setting for a beach holiday. Against the backdrop of forests echoing with the sounds of wildlife, it offers clear blue waters, white palm fringed beaches, and many watersports activities. Here you can swim along sandbanks, snorkel among colourful reefs, dive in deep sea canyons, or try out kitesurfing or supping. And for those in need of a dash of culture, the vibrant city of Mombasa is not far away!

Day 18

Flight home from Mombasa (not included in the price)

This is your last day! Unfortunately, our driver will have to take you to Mombasa to catch your flight home from Moi International Airport. Sad to leave...? Then don't worry! We can still add a few more days on those beautiful beaches or even add a few exciting safari days to your holiday!
