A short plane ride takes you from Kasane to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can dive deep into the Falls (not literally). Once here, you can learn more about the construction of the historical bridge and take a peek below the structure. Then at sunset, a cruise takes you closer to the magic: while the sun slowly sets, you glide along the Zambezi River, with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birds nearby.

Victoria Falls is a true showstopper and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Here, the Zambezi River drops 108 metres into a gorge, forming the largest curtain of falling water on earth, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya (“the smoke that thunders”). About 70 kilometres from the Botswana border, the area offers clear viewpoints along the rainforest trail – a walk that follows the falls through a nearby rainforest. Furthermore, you can spend time near the gorge for a meal with a view, visit the historical bridge with its fascinating past and design, or take a calm cruise on the river for one of Africa's magical sunsets.

Activities:

: Walk with a guide across the Victoria Falls Bridge and follow the bridge's journey from design in England to assembly at Victoria Falls between 1904 and 1905. You hear about the people behind it, the challenges during construction, and how it linked to Cecil John Rhodes’ Cape to Cairo railway idea (plans were big…very big!). The walk then shifts below the structure. Secured in a harness, you move along the underside of the bridge and see how the sections connect and hold. The guide explains the build in simple terms while you look out over the gorge and the Zambezi River. It is a slow, steady walk of 2.5 hours with time to stop, listen, and take it all in. Please note that this tour covers the bridge only and is separate from the Victoria Falls tour.
: The River Song drifts along the Zambezi near Victoria Falls for 2 to 2.5 hours as the sky shifts from gold to deep pink. Cold hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, premium drinks, beers, juice, and soft drinks are served throughout. Watch the banks for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birds as the light fades. The staff keeps everything topped up, so you stay put, and the river does the rest. The boat departs at 3:30 PM during the wet season (1 May to 31 August) and at 4:00 PM during the dry season (1 September to 30 April).

Guided tour of the Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls tour lasts 2 to 2.5 hours and takes you through the rainforest created by the falls’ constant spray. You follow paths to several viewpoints, watching water drop 108 metres into the gorge while feeling mist spread across the forest. Your guide explains the history of the falls, points out local plants, birds, and wildlife, and helps with photographs. On the way, you stop at landmarks like the Big Tree and learn how the waterfall shaped the surrounding landscape. The tour covers the rainforest and viewpoints, unlike the historical bridge tour, which focuses on the bridge’s history.

: Lunch at the Lookout Café turns mealtime into a sightseeing stop on the edge of the Batoka Gorge! From your table, you see the Victoria Falls Bridge and the Zambezi River below, and the mist from the Falls drifts across the gorge. Indoor and outdoor seating flows together, so you can move around while you eat…or watch people take the gorge swing, zip line, and flying fox nearby. The menu runs from hearty meals to platters and snacks, paired with a beer, cocktail, or wine.
: The “Through the Eyes of an Elephant” experience in Victoria Falls offers a rare opportunity to connect with these gentle giants in a respectful and meaningful way. This 2.5-hour visit begins with an introduction about elephant behaviour, conservation efforts and the stories of the resident ambassador herd - preparing you for an encounter that feels far more personal than a typical wildlife activity. Accompanied by experienced handlers, you’ll join a 20-minute walk alongside the herd, observing how they interact with each other and move through their natural surroundings. Having an animal of several tonnes stroll past you with complete calm and confidence is quite humbling. Afterwards, you can relax on the viewing deck with refreshments while watching the elephants socialise and play.
: All good things come to an end. This is unfortunately your last day, and you will catch your flight home from Kasane International Airport. Enjoy the last aerial views of the Chobe River and the floodplains, potentially even the last herd of elephants, and cherish the memories of your fantastic Botswana adventure. Safe travels!
