Namib Naukluft Lodge is one of only two accommodations in this peaceful private nature reserve. In the early afternoon, climb aboard an open 4×4 and head out into the reserve, following the dry bed of the Tsondab River before reaching one of its most unexpected sights: the Moringa Forest. These ancient trees seem almost impossibly out of place against the arid landscape, making this hidden corner of the reserve a particularly intriguing stop. From here, you continue towards a remote viewpoint where the desert opens up into a spectacular 360-degree panorama. Look out across golden grass plains, rugged desert terrain and seemingly endless horizons before stopping for some snacks and refreshments. The return journey follows another scenic route, and you may spot herds of springbok and oryx crossing the plains.
