Explore the rugged Aus Mountains by mountain bike or e-bike, leaving from the Desert Horse Inn. Well-marked trails wind through granite outcrops and dry riverbeds, climbing from 1,250 to nearly 1,700 metres above sea level. Keep an eye out for klipspringer and the occasional kudu, although the sweeping views across the mountains and towards the Namib Desert are just as spectacular. Several routes combine into rides of 18 to 45 kilometres, taking 1.5 to 4 hours depending on your chosen trail and, of course, how much effort you put in tackling the hills (but thank heavens for e-bikes when you need them!). Coloured arrows clearly mark the different routes, some dating back to World War I, with remnants of old ramparts and trenches along the way.
