Additional information

Being disabled in Kenya is not easy, as you will learn during your tour in Bombolulu. Many times, people hardly have access to healthcare, education, or work and as a consequence, they live in extreme poverty. This is where Bombolulu comes in – over 100 people work and/ or live here, making high-quality jewelry, wood carvings, clothes, bags, and more. Besides, the organization offers houses to artisans to prevent them from traveling long distances every day, a nursery school for their kids, produces wheelchairs and boasts a cultural center for visitors.

During the guided tour of approximately two hours, you visit the different workshops and the cultural center. In the workshops, you meet artisans, get to watch how they work, and learn more about the position of differently-abled people in Kenya. The cultural center focuses on the different indigenous tribes of Kenya, as it shows various homesteads and some traditional dances. Last but not least, there is the gift shop, where you can buy some of the beautiful products made here while supporting the beautiful work of Bombolulu.
