If you thought Namibia is just sand, think again! This 10-day route will take you to the lush, green, sumptuous side of the country, starting with what used to be the Caprivi Strip, but is now called Zambezi. This little strip of land (formed long ago when the Germans were searching for a trade route to East Africa) is connected to Botswana’s Okavango Delta, and as such is filled with rivers, woodland and floodplains teeming with life. See them all when crossing Bwabwata National Park to the Mahango Game Reserve and Rundu in the west, then drive on to mind-blowing Etosha National Park and the Ongava Game Reserve to add some salt (not just a figure of speech!) to the mix.
You will discover it all in your own car, driving through such remote areas that no cell phone or WiFi will work – talking about adventure! Luckily, maps on phones or GPS equipment also work offline, and we’ll provide you with an oldskool foldable paper map, GPS locations of your hotels and clear directions.
Please note that game drives in this itinerary are self-drive, meaning you do them by yourself and with your own car! You will pay the 24-hour entry pass at the gate of the park (cash recommended!), and follow the road signs to various waterholes, areas and restaurants in the park (or buy a park map at your lodge). Lunches can be ordered at your lodge and eaten at designated picnic areas in the park, or taken at one of the restaurants in the park.
