Visit Sossusvlei and Deadvlei with the Sossusvlei Lodge

Before the desert heat builds, this half-day visit to Sossusvlei sets off from Taleni Africa Sossusvlei Lodge and heads into Namib-Naukluft National Park. From the parking area, you walk through the sand to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, where the dry conditions have preserved camelthorn trees, black and skeletal, against the cracked white clay pan. You can also climb Big Daddy, a 325-metre dune beside Deadvlei, with the ascent taking 1.5 to 2 hours. From the top, you can walk or run down the sandy slope into Deadvlei below before heading back to the lodge.
