Visit a Himba village

Visit a traditional Himba village with Opuwo Country Lodge’s local guides, who have close connections with the Himba people, and let them welcome you to their village and learn about their unique beliefs, customs and traditions, watching them go about their daily routine. The visits are scheduled at 8 AM after breakfast and at 2.30 PM after lunch, and take 2 to 3 hours. The OvaHimba origins can be traced to Central and West Africa, but they have since settled in Angola and Namibia. They choose not to conform to modern society and still wear their traditional clothing, consisting of loin cloths and miniskirts from animal skin. They rub red ochre and fat all over their bodies, which helps protect them from the scorching Namibian sun, and their beauty and strength is just amazing.
