As the afternoon cools, you head out across the Kalahari dunes for a 3-hour drive that ends with a sundowner stop on a dune… drink in hand, sun on the horizon. Your guide drives you through the lodge property while you scan the landscape for whatever decides to show up. The Shy Five (meerkat, bat-eared fox, aardwolf, porcupine and aardvark) are all present in this area, and sightings happen more often than you’d expect. The natural waterhole on the property draws a rotating cast of zebra, springbok, wildebeest, gemsbok, giraffe and steenbok, while kori bustards, pearl-spotted owlets and marabou storks make regular appearances too. Refreshments and a light snack are served at the dune stop during sunset, before you return to the lodge in time for dinner.
