Roaring into this month’s spotlight from Kenya, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Laura – one of the passionate experts behind Africa Safari Trips.
Our monthly Get to Know the Faces Behind Africa Safari Trips series takes you behind the scenes to meet the people who make every safari truly unforgettable. From travel tips to insider stories, this is your chance to get to know the faces making your African safari so unique.
My name is Laura, and while I originally come from Germany, Kenya has always felt like home. I lived here as a child and was drawn back to its magic eight years ago. Today, I lead the German Sales Team and work as a Sales Coach, helping our consultants craft dream itineraries for travelers across the globe. I live in Kenya with my husband Fabian and our two wonderful daughters – our weekends often turn into spontaneous safaris, much to the delight of our little adventurers.
Tsavo East, especially the beautiful Satao Camp, holds a special place in my heart. Tsavo’s vast, untamed wilderness is unlike anywhere else – fewer vehicles, countless elephants, and the thrill of the unexpected around every corner. The magic lies in its remoteness: there’s barely any network, which means you’re truly present, immersed in nature. Satao Camp itself is a dream…imagine sitting at camp with elephants strolling past your tent. It’s pure magic.
It really depends on what kind of adventure you’re looking for! If you’re dreaming of spotting the Big Five, the Masai Mara offers incredible wildlife density and iconic landscapes. If elephants are what your heart is set on, Amboseli and the Tsavo Parks are unbeatable. Kenya’s parks are so diverse – no two safaris are the same, and that’s the beauty of it.
From Big Five encounters to off-the-beaten-path gems - these are Laura’s personal favorites for an unforgettable journey.

Every safari offers something memorable, but a few moments are etched in my mind forever. I once witnessed a Sheldrick Trust baby elephant rescue… a touching and unforgettable experience. And then there was the time a group of cheetah cubs playfully used our vehicle for shade, tumbling around under us as if we weren’t even there. Pure, wild joy.
Yes! In Uganda, Mgahinga National Park is still on my bucket list! I’m dreaming of experiencing the Golden Monkey Trekking there. The landscape looks absolutely breathtaking, and the chance to encounter such rare wildlife in such a unique setting is something I’d love to check off my list.
Get a local SIM card… it makes everything easier. And don’t leave without trying some authentic Kenyan food! Whether it’s chapati, ugali, or nyama choma, the flavors are as rich and vibrant as the landscapes.
