9 DAYS SOUTH AFRICA: KLEIN KAROO & TWO OCEANS

From $ 716 USD* / Whale watching along Hermanus cliffs / 9 days

*price p.p. incl. rental car and hotels, excl. international flights (based on four persons)

From ostrich country to ocean cliffs in 9 days.

One way to kick off your South African journey, is to warm up with some wine tasting in Robertson before heading to Oudtshoorn, the heart of the Klein Karoo, featuring ostrich farms, ancient caves and thrilling game drives.

In Swellendam you can uncover the city’s rich heritage, and in Cape Agulhas you can stand at the two oceans’ crossroads, where the Indian and the Atlantic Ocean meet.

If you like good vistas and good wine, this is your place-to-be: climb the historic lighthouse, explore haunting shipwrecks, and sip your way through the Agulhas Wine Triangle.

In Hermanus, you can enjoy a cliffside walk with sweeping sea views, a whale-watching cruise, and a taste of coastal living at its best.

Depending on how you want to end your journey, meet African penguins at Betty’s Bay or explore the historic Stellenbosch in style – or you do both, and you’ve got a trip as diverse as South Africa itself.

Wilderness, wine, and waves—this one has it all.

Explore all of this by yourself during an unforgettable road trip. If you want to learn more about this country during your trip, our guides will be happy to drive and show you around at extra cost.

Day 2 - 3

Drive from Cape Town to Oudtshoorn

The scenic drive from Cape Town to Oudtshoorn via Route 62 takes 5 hours (not counting stops) and winds through charming towns like Robertson, Montagu, Barrydale, and Calitzdorp. To break up the rather long journey, stop in Robertson - nicknamed the Valley of Wine and Roses - for a relaxing garden tour, wine tasting, and lunch at Van Loveren Vineyards. Along the way, keep an eye out for the quirky roadside attraction Ronnie’s Sex Shop - just a normal pub with a name that was changed as a prank and now draws curious visitors by the hundreds. As you near Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, the landscape shifts and ostriches appear left and right. A guided ostrich farm tour is a great way to start your Small Karoo adventure.

And if you're in for some outdoor fun and game spotting, Bontebok National Park should be on your list too.
