Studies suggest that the first modern humans evolved in Africa. Maybe that’s why so many people are nowadays drawn to this fascinating continent. If it’s not that, it might be the almost unbelievable beauty of the landscapes… or the fascinating animals… or the various cultures with their roots going back thousands of years… or the experiences which will stay with you for the rest of your life.

A dream vacation in Africa

With such a teaser, it’s only fair to tell you a little bit more of how African countries will make your holiday unforgettable. These are our big five reasons (pun intended):

1. Wildlife

If you love wildlife documentaries or have been dreaming about seeing African animals in their natural habitat from a young age, you’ll be in paradise. See the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino – with your own eyes. Witness animals coming to life, which you marvelled at in your picture books as a child. The biggest spectacle is the Great Migration with millions of wildebeest, zebras and antelopes making their way to greener pastures.

2. Landscapes

Africa is a continent with an almost unmatched diversity. Wander through lush jungles and to the summit of Africa’s highest mountains and volcanoes. Take a shower underneath a waterfall and dive into lakes and the ocean. Relax at pearly white beaches and release your inner explorer in the seemingly endless savannahs. No matter where you’ll be roaming, these landscapes will take your breath away.

3. Activities

From calm to adrenaline-fuelled, from “OMG-I-can’t-believe-it” to “WOW-is-this-real?” activities: no matter which country you’ll be in, you can look forward to experiences that will put the biggest smile on your face. We cannot name them all, but these are some of our favourites: a safari (obviously a must-do!), gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, hot air balloon safari. Enjoy!

4. Cultures

The Maasai are probably the most-famous African people. However, there are many more who call this continent their home. Learn more about their traditions and customs by visiting them in their villages. Just as fascinating are African cities with their rich heritage.
