10 DAYS UGANDA: SAFARI AMONG RHINOS, FORESTS AND LAKES

Get close to grey giants, our furry relatives and beautiful landscapes of all kind, during this 10-day safari in Uganda.

You’ll kick your once-in-a-lifetime adventure off with a bang: meet the rhinos of Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and get closer to them than you’ve ever imagined. In Murchison Falls National Park you can get carried away but the rapid streams of River Nile (not literally!). Marvel at thrilling wildlife like hippos, giraffes, elephants and countless colourful birds during a relaxed boat and unique jeep safari. Passing crater lakes, tea fields and villages, you’ll reach Kibale National Park. Immerse yourself deep in this lush emerald forest and see our closest relatives, the chimpanzees, living their daily life.

Your next stop will take you to the royal Queen Elizabeth National Park. Hop into your safari jeep and go searching for the (in)famous Big Five and rare animals like the Shoebill. Your adventure ends just the way it started: with a unique experience. In Lake Mburo National Park you’ll embark on a night game drive: exciting, a wee bit spooky, and an absolute must-do!

Rhino trekking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Nested in the middle of the country, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and a safe haven for white rhinos. In fact, this is the only place where you can see white rhinos in Uganda. During a rhino trekking tour, you can not only meet these majestic animals in their natural habitat but also support the sanctuary’s conservation efforts. Boat Safari to the Murchison Falls

Embark on a double-decker boat for an old-style River Nile cruise in Murchison Falls National Park! Sail up the river for two hours (and one hour back) while spotting hippos and crocodiles in the water, and several other animals on the shores. The boat eventually leads you to the bottom of the impressive 43-meter-high Murchison Falls, where you can feel the fresh water droplets on your face while seeing the water cascading down. The falls are so powerful that it's impossible to get very close, but trust us – you’ll be impressed nevertheless!

If the weather is clear, you can see the Rwenzori Mountains with their snow-capped peaks. And then, get ready for Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world with no less than 13 different species of monkeys!

Swamp walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary at Kibale National Park

The swamp walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary at Kibale National Park is a must-do if you love birds, monkeys, rare animals, plants and flowers. This magical place, or "home of the great blue turaco" as it is also called, harbours over 200 bird species. During your walk, you can spot eight primate species in the trees above you and Ugandan animals like sitatungas, bushbucks and otters (yes, otters!). This is one of Uganda's three parks where you can find the Burchell's zebra and for the longest time, this was the only area where you could see impala – leading to the name Kampala (a hill of impala) for its capital. The drive takes approximately 3 hours, and you can either take a power nap or enjoy being on the lookout for the unique wildlife of Lake Mburo National Park!
