Twyfelfontein Country Lodge lies in the heart of Damaraland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to one of Africa’s most remarkable collections of ancient rock engravings. Built from natural stone and topped with traditional thatched roofs, the lodge blends seamlessly into the surrounding wilderness, as though it has always belonged there. It offers 56 comfortable rooms in a variety of configurations, with some overlooking the open plains and others facing the striking red sandstone formations. All rooms feature ensuite bathrooms, ceiling fans, mosquito nets and electronic safes. Guided morning and afternoon hiking trails are available, and the in-house restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner on an elevated wooden deck (it’s not uncommon to spot a desert-adapted elephant wandering by!).
