Flight from Kruger to Cape Town for your guided tour

Today marks the start of your Western Cape adventure. Your flight from the Kruger area to Cape Town International Airport takes about 2.5 hours, carrying you from the warm bushveld of the northeast to the dramatic coastlines of the southwest. Once you step into the arrivals hall, your guide will be there to welcome you and assist with the next part of your journey. From here, it’s a short transfer into Cape Town, affectionately known as the Mother City - where mountains meet the ocean and the next chapter of your trip unfolds.

Day 6

Cape Town

Where the edge of the world meets the sea – that's where you find Cape Town, South Africa’s oldest and second-largest city, filled with endless highlights! From Robben Island and the Castle of Good Hope for history buffs, to Table Mountain and Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden for nature lovers. Boulders Beach with its clumsy penguin colony and Hout Bay with its lazy seals melt your heart, and for cultural highlights, you'd best head to the colourful Bo-Kaap for a free walking tour. Afterwards, the V&A Waterfront is your place to be: not just for food and wine, but also for a shopping spree and a tour on the Cape Wheel... or even a sunset cruise with an invigorating glass of champagne!

Day 7

Visit the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point Section of Table Mountain National Park

Stand at the wild edge of the continent at the legendary Cape of Good Hope, part of Table Mountain National Park. Here, dramatic cliffs plunge into crashing oceans and the scenery feels wonderfully untamed. Despite popular belief, this is not Africa’s southernmost point - that honour belongs to Cape Agulhas - but it’s certainly one of its most iconic. Hike coastal trails, scan the sea from Cape Point, or ride the cheeky “Flying Dutchman” funicular to the lighthouse for sweeping views. Wildlife adds extra character: baboons patrol the roads, while antelope graze the fynbos slopes.

Day 8

Cellar visit including wine tasting at Groot Constantia (pay on site)

Groot Constantia, established in 1685 by Cape Governor Simon van der Stel, is South Africa’s oldest wine estate and the birthplace of its wine industry. Chosen for its ideal terroir and stunning views, the estate’s wines soon gained global fame, favoured by royalty and even mentioned in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. Today, visitors can explore this legacy with the Visitors Route Experience, which includes a museum visit, cellar tour, wine tasting and a souvenir glass. For a sweeter touch, add a chocolate pairing to your tasting. Tickets are available online or at the estate. And if you're into fine dining, nearby La Colombe – Africa’s top-rated, Michelin-starred restaurant – is an unmissable treat … But book well in advance to avoid disappointment!

Day 9

Robben Island visit by boat

Robben Island, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is best known as the prison where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years behind bars. Once a leprosy colony, a mental hospital and a military base, it now stands as a powerful symbol of South Africa’s journey to democracy. Visit the prison and see for yourself where Mandela, along with thousands of other freedom fighters, was incarcerated for so many years. Tours include a ferry ride from Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, a bus tour across the island and a visit to Mandela’s former cell. Ferries depart daily (weather permitting), and booking in advance is essential. Prepare for a 3.5 to 4 hour tour through one of South Africa’s most important historical landmarks.

Day 10

Discover the Bo-Kaap on a walking tour (free of charge)

When strolling through Bo-Kaap, you feel like wandering through a rainbow. During a free 90-minute guided walking tour, you find out more about this colourful part of Cape Town, surrounded by the smell of spices and the sound of mosques calling for prayer. Explore highlights like Auwal Masjeed, the oldest Mosque in the city, the Biesmiellah Cape Malay Restaurant for authentic Cape Malay food, and the beautiful Chiappini Street. You also learn more about the district's history and its spice trade. Simply show up at Motherland Coffee (St. George's Mall) at 2 PM or 4.20 PM, look out for a guide with a green umbrella and off you learn!

Kirstenbosch is a UNESCO-listed botanical garden on the slopes of Table Mountain, showcasing South Africa’s unique flora like proteas (the national flower!), strelitzias and fynbos. You can also visit the art garden and go for a short, sign-posted hike! And if you get hungry, there are three on-site restaurants to choose from.
