Game drive on the Makgadikgadi salt pans

A 2 to 3-hour game drive on the Makgadikgadi salt pans is unlike almost any other safari in Africa. The enormous, ancient salt pans feel almost lunar; endless white horizons, shimmering mirages and a silence so complete you can practically hear your own heartbeat. It’s safari at its most raw, remote and surreal. Wildlife here is specially adapted to the harsh desert environment, and drives often focus on smaller, elusive species that are harder to spot elsewhere. Expect possible sightings of brown hyena, bat-eared fox, aardvark, springbok, oryx, black-maned Kalahari lions and – one of the highlights – the famous habituated meerkats.
