Drive from Boteti River via Gweta to the salt pans of Makgadikgadi

The drive from the Boteti River area to the salt pans of Makgadikgadi takes approximately 3 hours and 120 kilometres, mainly via Gweta. The route gradually leaves the greener riverine landscapes behind and transitions into the open, arid Kalahari scenery, where scattered palms, dusty villages and endless horizons dominate the view. By the time you arrive, the silence, shimmering salt crusts and vast empty spaces make it feel as though you’ve driven to another planet.
