Step into a canoe and discover the tranquil waterways of Wilderness National Park! You can hire a canoe at the Fairy Knowe Hotel (and pay the SAN Parks entrance fee there as well) and set off straight away to the picturesque Touw River. Each canoe is equipped with a large waterproof bucket to keep your picnic and camera safe and dry. From there, you can choose from three routes, the most popular being the one to the Touw River Waterfall. This route involves 40 minutes of paddling and a 2.5-kilometre walk to the waterfalls – the perfect setting for a picnic and a dip. Birdwatchers can also take the Island Lake route, which involves 5 hours of paddling through reed beds teeming with birds.
