Travellers Rest Hotel

The Travellers Rest Hotel is one of Uganda’s oldest lodges, with several impressive guests on its historical guest list. The famous Dian Fossey is even said to have called this her second home! Located in the Kisoro district close to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, the hotel has a history in gorilla conservation, and after it was built in 1955 it quickly became a meeting place for people (like Dian Fossey) interested in gorillas.

The hotel offers 12 cosy ensuite rooms in a lovely serene environment, all uniquely decorated with Congolese art and with the Virunga volcanoes outside as a stunning backdrop. The rooms offer comfortable, modern amenities, the restaurant serves delicious fresh meals in a dining room full of art, a tranquil garden invites you to reflect on the day, and a friendly, welcoming staff makes you feel right at home. Your only job is to relax, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere!
