Hidden within the Bothongo Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve, the Wonder Cave is South Africa’s third-largest cave chamber. Discovered by Italian miners in 1898, it still whispers stories of its mining past – now replaced by nature’s artistry. Inside, stalactites and stalagmites formed over millions of years create a cathedral-like spectacle. Access is easy and no crawling is needed! You first descend 87 steps and the rest is done in an elevator. Guided tours run every two hours, lasting about 45 minutes to an hour and telling you all about geology, history, and the cave’s living ecosystem. It’s a journey that really rocks (literally!), especially when combined with a self-drive safari or guided game drive (see extra activities, charged separately).
