At the southern tip of the quaint coastal town of Betty’s Bay, you find the Stony Point Nature Reserve. Here you can enjoy marvellous ocean views and meet its special inhabitants: the African Penguins. A wooden boardwalk leads you through the colony so that you can observe without disturbing. Watch how they waddle along the beach, go fishing, take care of their fluffy offspring and propose to each other with a pebble instead of a ring. Also, keep your eyes open for cormorants, gulls and rock hyrax (locally called ‘dassies’). You can visit the penguin colony daily from 8 AM to 4.30 PM, with the last permits issued at 3.45 PM.
