The African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary (APSS) in Gansbaai is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation centre, created to care for sick, injured or distressed marine birds. Every penguin nursed back to health here is a vital step in preventing the extinction of this endangered species. The facility offers emergency care, medical support and a temporary home for feathered patients in need. You can learn all about their incredible work during a self-guided 2-hour visit between 9 AM and 4 PM daily – don’t miss the 3 PM feeding! Afterwards, treat yourself to coffee and cake, browse the adorable penguin-themed gift shop or sponsor a booster block to support a good cause.
