The Buhoma sector, located in the northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, is the largest sector and home to four gorilla families, making it the pioneer of gorilla trekking in Uganda since the first trailhead opened in 1993. While trekking here is not the most physically challenging, it offers some of Africa’s most spectacular forest trails, appealing to avid hikers. Please note that participants must be at least 15 years old, and treks are conducted in groups of up to 8 people, lasting 2–4 hours; however, gorilla sightings are never guaranteed.
