The Bamburi Forest Trails offers four nature trails that are great for both hiking and biking. The lush, tranquil jungle has many species of palm trees from all over the world, and from the trails you can see the parks many spectacular ponds and lakes. This is a great place to go for people staying in Mombasa or on the beach of Bamburi. As a break from the busy town or from the beach, you can make a hike, jump on your bike and enjoy a picnic here.

The Bamburi Forest is an area on the outskirts of Mombasa, on what used to be a wasteland. The land had been used for mining by the Bamburi Cement Company, when in the 1970s one Dr. Haller was hired to make a plan to revive the area and plant at least one million trees. This resulted in three parks, of which the Bamburi Forest Trails is one.
These days all parks (Haller Park and Nguuni being the other ones) are popular with people from Mombasa to enjoy the weekend. The four nature trails (from 3,6 to 10 kilometers in length) of Bamburi are popular because they are perfect for hiking, jogging or biking. Enjoy the various landscapes with empty quarries, lush forests, lakes, streams, palm groves and plantations of native trees, while you find your spot to picnic. And don’t be surprised if you run into animals such as the duiker antelope, elands and oryxes during your hike or bike-ride…!
