The Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge lies on the Nteko Ridge at an impressive height of 2,161 meters (7,090 ft). Sweeping vistas allow you to see the surrounding rural landscape, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (the gate is a mere 300 meters down the road) and the Virunga volcanos. The lodge boasts 18 ensuite rooms within 16 residences spread over the property – all of them lovingly decorated with wooden floors, comfy furniture and colourful African details. Some are set in the garden, while others boast truly glorious views over the indigenous forest of Bwindi. Running on solar power with the support of a generator, this hotel aims to have a neutral carbon footprint and urges its guests to take their own water bottles to be filled up. At a 10-15 minute walk from the gorilla trekking point of the Nkuringo sector (and a 45-minute drive from the Rushaga sector) this is the perfect place to prepare for or unwind after your meet-up with Bwindi’s gentle giants.
