Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge

Located two hours from Gqeberha (formerly named Port Elizabeth), Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge is a boutique safari camp on the edge of Addo Elephant National Park. The lodge offers 10 spacious suites (five of which are suitable for families), thoughtfully crafted using a combination of canvas and recycled wood for a rustic yet comfortable feel. There are king or twin beds, indoor and outdoor showers (and a private outdoor bath on the deck!), a fireplace, and solar-powered hot water. There is a swimming pool for hot afternoons and a fireplace for cool evenings. You eat at the on-site restaurant, and the vibe leans more toward barefoot luxury than formal dining.
